Jenny Song, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Researcher who has concentrated her efforts in gene therapy research for retinal diseases. She graduated from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea) and pursued her Ph.D. training in epigenetics and cancer research.
The focus of her thesis was on the development of prognostic marker for liver cancer using genome wide epigenetic information analysis during tumorigenesis.
She carried out additional training in cell replacement therapy for pediatric congenital retinopathy models at Temple University School of Medicine/Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center before coming to University of Pennsylvania.
The second part of her research focuses on loss-of-function studies to figure out novel functions of signaling molecules during eye development, especially in the control of proliferation of progenitor cells. In her free time, she plays dolls, reads Dr. Seuss’ books, and watches Korean TV with her children. She is a wine lover, a flute player, and a big fan of Minions!
